A tour of the interface

The sidebar, the menu behind your avatar, the command palette and where to find Settings.

The sidebar#

The sidebar on the left leads to the main areas: Hosts, Workspace, Files, Tunnels, Keys and Snippets. By default it shows icons only, and the names appear when you hover over them. Under Settings → General → Interface → Sidebar you choose Icons only, Icons and labels or Hidden. A hidden sidebar slides in as soon as the pointer reaches the left edge. The button at the top of the sidebar widens or narrows it, and ⌘B on macOS or Ctrl+B on Windows and Linux shows or hides it. Windows narrower than 760 px always show icons only.

Below the main areas you find two sections:

  • Pinned: your own shortcuts to hosts and saved workspaces. Add one with the plus next to Pinned and reorder them by dragging or with Alt and the arrow keys.
  • Open sessions: jumps to running SSH, local, agent and remote desktop panes without restarting them.

At the top of the sidebar you can switch between vaults, for example between your personal vault and a team vault.

The menu behind your avatar#

At the foot of the sidebar sits your avatar. Its menu brings together account and sync, keyboard shortcuts, update check, documentation, About Ravelon, the theme (System, Light or Dark), Settings, Lock vault when a lock is turned on, and signing out.

Settings#

Open Settings from the avatar menu, with ⌘, on macOS or Ctrl+, on Windows and Linux, or with ⌘9 or Ctrl+9 outside the Workspace. The tabs are General, Terminal, Themes, Shortcuts, Security, Privacy, AI providers, Account & sync and About. The search box above them looks through all tabs at once, in English and German.

The command palette#

The search field in the title bar opens the command palette, as does ⌘K on macOS or Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux. Type a few letters to find a host, an open tab, a snippet, a saved workspace, a page or an action, and press Enter.

Tip: F1 opens a searchable overview of all keyboard shortcuts. The full list is in Keyboard shortcuts.
