Termix alternative
A Termix alternative without a server to run.
Termix is a self-hosted platform: you deploy its server and reach your machines through it. Ravelon is just an app you install. Hosts and credentials live in an encrypted vault on your device, and a sync server is optional.
Termix is a free, open-source, self-hosted platform for managing servers, used through the browser or its apps. We at Ravelon wrote this page and keep it up to date. Termix is a trademark of its owner.

Why Ravelon
Four reasons to move from Termix to Ravelon
01
Install and connect
Ravelon works on one device with nothing to deploy: install the app, save a host, connect. Updates arrive in the app and are verified before they install. When you want sync, pick Ravelon Cloud or run your own sync server.
02
Credentials should stay on your device
With Ravelon, encryption happens on your machine. When you sync, Ravelon Cloud or your own sync server stores encrypted records and never has the key to open them.
03
Remote desktops next to the shell
Ravelon opens RDP and VNC hosts in the same tabs and split panes as SSH. RDP runs inside the app through IronRDP, and VNC goes over verified TLS or through an SSH host.
04
AI that waits for you
The Ravelon Agent suggests commands for your hosts, using the AI provider you connect. Every step waits for your click, and passwords and keys never reach the model.
Nothing to deploy before your first connection
Install Ravelon, save a host, connect. The free version is the full desktop app on one device, with a local encrypted vault and no account. When you want the same hosts on a second machine, Ravelon Pro syncs them through Ravelon Cloud, or you run the free sync server yourself.
- No account needed on one device
- Sync server optional, ours or your own
- The server only sees ciphertext
A desktop workspace, not a web page
Ravelon is a native app with a Rust core. Local shells, SSH, RDP and VNC sit in the same tabs and splits. You can rebind shortcuts, type into several panes at once and save whole workspaces.
Shells, files, tunnels and remote desktops share one tab strip.
Switching
Moving from Termix
Export your hosts as a CSV list or an OpenSSH config and Ravelon imports them in one go. Groups, tags and host icons keep them in order, and the command palette opens any host in a few keystrokes.
Teams share hosts through team vaults with owner, admin, editor and viewer roles. If everything has to stay in your network, the free Ravelon Sync server runs in a single container on your own infrastructure.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can I self-host Ravelon the way I host Termix?
The sync server, yes. The app itself runs on each of your devices, and the sync server only stores encrypted records. Running it costs nothing.
Where does Ravelon run?
As a native desktop app on Windows, macOS and Linux, on x86_64 and ARM64. Your account, devices and purchases are managed in the browser at ravelon.app.
How do I move my hosts over?
Ravelon imports ~/.ssh/config, CSV, PuTTY and MobaXterm files. If you can get your host list into an SSH config or a CSV file, it comes over in one go. Passwords go straight into the encrypted vault.
Try it first
Try it for a week.
On one device the desktop app is free, with everything in it: the encrypted vault and SFTP, RDP and VNC, and the assistant too. Import your SSH config and feel how much faster your day goes.
