Royal TS alternative

A Royal TS alternative built around SSH.

Ravelon starts from SSH: terminals, files and tunnels over one connection, plus RDP and VNC in the same tabs, on Windows, macOS and Linux. Every host lives in an end-to-end encrypted vault that syncs to all your devices.

Royal TS is a commercial connection manager for Windows, with Royal TSX for macOS, that keeps connections in shareable documents. We at Ravelon wrote this page and keep it up to date. Royal TS is a trademark of its owner.

Why Ravelon

Four reasons to move from Royal TS to Ravelon

01

The same app on Linux too

Ravelon is the same desktop app on Windows, macOS and Linux, with ARM64 builds and .deb and .rpm packages. Everyone on the team works with the same hosts, shortcuts and vault format.

02

SSH is most of your day

In Ravelon the terminal, SFTP browser and saved tunnels share one SSH connection per host. Jump hosts, OpenSSH certificates, proxies and snippets are all built around that.

03

End-to-end encrypted sync

Ravelon encrypts every record on your device and syncs through Ravelon Cloud or your own server, and neither of them ever has the key. Changes from several devices are merged in the app, record by record.

04

The full app for free

Ravelon's free version is the full desktop app on one device, with as many hosts and credentials as you like. Pro adds sync, and you buy it once.

SSH first, remote desktops alongside

Save a host once and open it as a terminal, a file browser or a tunnel. RDP and VNC hosts open in the same tabs and split panes, so a Windows server and the Linux box behind it stay in one window.

  • RDP through IronRDP, with TLS and NLA
  • VNC over verified TLS or tunnelled through an SSH host
  • Jump hosts that ask for their own password or second factor
  • Type into many panes at once, or run one command on many hosts

Encrypted sync instead of shared files

Ravelon encrypts every record on your device and merges changes in the app itself. Team vaults share hosts with owner, admin, editor and viewer roles, and everyone's personal vault stays private.

The server stores records it can't read.

Switching

Moving from Royal TS

Export your connections as a CSV list and Ravelon imports them in one go, SSH, RDP and VNC hosts alike. Subgroups inherit user, credential and jump host, so the structure of your documents carries over into groups.

For Windows servers, Ravelon's RDP brings scaling, remote resize, clipboard sharing, view-only mode, Ctrl+Alt+Delete and printer redirection: print jobs arrive as PDFs on your machine, ready to print locally.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I bring my Royal TS connections over?

Export them as a CSV file and import it into Ravelon. Ravelon also reads ~/.ssh/config, PuTTY and MobaXterm files. Passwords go straight into the encrypted vault.

What can Ravelon's RDP do?

It connects with TLS and NLA through IronRDP and brings scaling, remote resize, clipboard sharing, view-only mode, Ctrl+Alt+Delete and printer redirection. Print jobs arrive as PDFs on your machine.

Is there a Linux version?

Yes. Ravelon runs on Linux on x86_64 and ARM64, as an AppImage or as a .deb or .rpm package.
