Add and organize hosts

Save servers once, sort them into groups and subgroups, tag and pin them, and import or export host lists.

Add a host#

On the Hosts page, click New host. Under General you enter a name, the hostname or IP, the port, the protocol (SSH, RDP or VNC), the username, a group and tags. You can also pick an icon from the catalogue or upload your own PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG up to 2 MB, choose an accent colour and add notes. How the host signs in is set under Authentication, see Connect via SSH.

Groups and subgroups#

Click New group in the list on the left. The + next to a group adds a subgroup, and the pencil edits the group. A group can set a default user, credential and jump host. Hosts in the group and its subgroups use these defaults unless they set their own, and the nearest group wins.

Tags, pins and sorting#

Tags work across groups, so one host can be prod and db at the same time. Pinned hosts appear under Pinned in the host list and can be added to the Pinned shortcuts in the sidebar. Above the list you filter by protocol and sort by pinned and recent, name or address.

Right-click menu#

Right-click a host for: connect, open in a new tab, open beside or below the active pane, browse files, copy the SSH command, copy the address, pin, edit, duplicate and delete. From the keyboard, Shift+F10 opens this menu and F2 edits the host.

Several hosts at once#

Click with ⌘ on macOS or Ctrl on Windows and Linux, or with Shift, to select several hosts. ⌘A or Ctrl+A selects the whole list. The bar that appears can connect, run one command, check reachability, move to a group, add a tag or delete. Check reachability tries each host's port once and shows the result and latency. It runs only when you click it. Hosts behind a jump host or a proxy are marked as such instead of being checked directly.

Import and export#

Import reads hosts without changing the source:

SourceNotes
~/.ssh/configFollows Include, uses Host * defaults and links ProxyJump hosts. ProxyCommand and Match blocks are listed and not imported.
Ravelon export (JSON)All protocols, groups, tags, notes and jump hosts.
CSVNeeds a header row.
PuTTYRegistry export (.reg), SSH sessions only.
MobaXtermSSH, RDP and VNC bookmarks with their folders.

Hosts that already exist with the same name, address and port are not duplicated. Export writes a Ravelon JSON file, a CSV table or an OpenSSH config. Notes are only included if you tick Include notes.

Important: Passwords are never imported or exported, even when a file contains them. Private keys and passphrases are never exported either.
