VNC

VNC that checks who is on the other end.

Open VNC hosts in the same workspace as your shells. When the server offers a certificate, Ravelon checks it. When a mode doesn't encrypt, Ravelon tells you. And if you want, the whole connection runs through SSH.

Pick the security mode per host

Each VNC host has its own connection security setting. Automatic prefers VeNCrypt with a verified certificate, then Apple Remote Desktop, then classic VNC. If negotiation or the certificate check fails, it stops there instead of retrying with something weaker.

  • Verified TLS: VeNCrypt X.509 on TLS 1.2 or newer, with hostname, chain and expiry checked
  • Your own CA certificate for private CAs and self-signed servers
  • Anonymous TLS only if you pick it on purpose
  • Apple Remote Desktop login with user name and password
  • Classic VNC for older servers

02

Extra protection through SSH

For Apple Remote Desktop and classic VNC, pick a saved SSH host under Connect through, and the whole connection runs encrypted inside SSH, with your usual credentials and host key checks.

“Every mode is clearly labelled. A saved SSH host can carry the whole session.”

03

A viewer that fits the workspace

The viewer is based on noVNC and sits in tabs and splits next to SSH, RDP and local terminals. Switch pages inside the app and your connections stay up.

  • Fit to the pane or show at original size
  • Fullscreen and view-only mode
  • Ctrl+Alt+Delete
  • Manual clipboard exchange, off until you turn it on for a host
  • Settings sync inside the encrypted host record

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which VNC security types are supported?

VeNCrypt with X.509 certificates (verified TLS), anonymous TLS if you choose it explicitly, Apple Remote Desktop and classic VNC authentication. For your security, only TLS 1.2 or newer is accepted.

Can I connect to a Mac?

Yes, with the Apple Remote Desktop mode and the Mac's user name and password. Route it through a saved SSH host and the whole session runs encrypted.

Is the clipboard shared automatically?

No. It's off until you turn it on for a host, and even then you send text or copy received text yourself. Nothing lands on your system clipboard by itself.

Do VNC settings sync to my other devices?

Yes. They travel inside the encrypted host record, through Ravelon Cloud or your own sync server.
