The browser pane
Show a local development server or an https page right next to your terminal.
Open a browser pane#
The browser pane shows a web page inside the Workspace, next to the terminal that serves it. Click Browser in the Workspace tab strip, or choose Open browser pane in the command palette. The pane opens beside the active pane, or in a new tab when nothing is open yet.
Enter an address in the address bar, for example localhost:3000, or pick one of the suggestions on the start page. The pane has its own Back, Forward and Reload buttons. Splitting a browser pane opens a second one at the same address.
Which addresses work#
- Plain
httpworks only for this computer:localhostand127.0.0.1. This is meant for development servers. - Every other address must use
https. If you leave out the scheme, Ravelon addshttpfor localhost andhttpsfor everything else. - Addresses with a user name or password in them are refused.
Pages that refuse embedding#
Many websites do not allow being shown inside another app. For those, click Open in your browser to open the page in your default browser with one click.
What the pane can and cannot do#
The page runs in a restricted frame. It cannot open pop-ups, start downloads or use the camera, microphone, clipboard or location. It never receives data from your vault, and nothing shown in it is passed to the AI, voice or autocomplete features.
