Voice

Say what you need. The shell stays yours.

Ravelon Voice turns what you say into actions in the app: open six Codex panes, show the tunnel editor, start the database tunnel. Shell commands are only ever inserted, so you can check them first.

Ravelon Voice

"Open three Codex panes in ravelon-web and start the database tunnel."

  • ok opened 3 Codex panes in ravelon-web
  • ? start tunnel db-primary:5432, confirm
web-01

inserted, not run:

$ df -h /var

Enter stays with you.

What Voice can do

Voice can open host and file-browser connections, saved workspaces, tabs and panes, settings pages, and the editors for hosts, snippets, tunnels and identities. Those editors are still ordinary forms that you check and save yourself.

  • Open coding agents in a recent project folder by name
  • Start or stop saved tunnels once you confirm
  • Hand a task to the Ravelon Agent, whose steps still wait for your click
  • Floating window, menu bar or tray icon, or a panel inside the app

02

It never runs shell commands

Voice can walk through a command with you and put it at the prompt without pressing Enter. It only reads a pane's visible text once you allow it, and a message to a coding agent needs its own confirmation before it goes out.

“Voice can read a terminal. It never presses Enter in one.”

03

Your OpenAI key, your bill

Voice needs an OpenAI API profile with the official endpoint and a key that can use the speech models named in Ravelon's settings. OpenAI bills API usage separately from any ChatGPT subscription. OpenAI receives the audio and the names of the hosts, workspaces or panes you ask about. Terminal output stays out of it unless you share a specific pane.

  • Transcripts stay in memory and are never logged or saved
  • Known secrets are removed before a pane is shared
  • A call ends after ten silent minutes, with a warning first
  • Plug in a new headset and the call carries on

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is a ChatGPT subscription enough?

No. Voice uses an OpenAI API key, and API usage is billed separately from ChatGPT subscriptions.

Can Voice execute commands?

No. It can insert a shell command for you to review, but pressing Enter is up to you. Saved tunnels only start or stop after you confirm.

Is the conversation stored?

No. Transcripts stay in memory, are cleared when a new call starts or you switch vaults, and never end up in a log.

How do I start a call?

Click Voice in the title bar, or press ⌘⌥V on macOS or Ctrl+Alt+V on Windows and Linux. During a call, the same shortcut mutes the microphone.
